VIA’s lead candidate, VIA-2291, targets a significant unmet medical need – reducing inflammation in plaque, which is an underlying cause of atherosclerosis and its complications, including heart attack and stroke.

VIA-2291 is in multiple Phase 2 clinical trials in patients with cardiovascular disease to provide clinical proof-of-concept as early as possible in the clinical development process. The innovative Phase 2 trial designs utilize a combination of measures such as biomarkers, non-invasive medical imaging of the coronary vessel and various plaque bioassays.

VIA recently expanded its drug development pipeline with preclinical compounds that target additional underlying causes of cardiovascular and metabolic disease, including high cholesterol, high triglycerides and insulin sensitization / diabetes.
